The story about the 2 new ferries from Doeksen, the 2 Twin ships: The Willem Barentsz and Willem de Vlaming?

After a long and arduous adventure, it finally arrived in Harlingen in 2019. Unfortunately, it turned out that a lot of water damage had occurred along the way.
Again, lengthy repairs were needed to get the ships into service. De Willem Barentsz has been in use since this summer and hopefully Willem de Vlaming will follow soon. What survived all adventures without any problems are the beautiful tiles and tile pictures that we were allowed to manufacture for both ships!
8 large tile pictures, 4 on each ship consisted of approx. 280 tiles per tableau, decorate the walls on both ships. They tell the story of the history of the Wadden, Vlieland & Terschelling.
In addition, through a design competition, highlights of both islands made by primary school pupils have been incorporated 1 on 1 by our painters in all tile pictures.

After a period of “Radio Silence” we can now finally let you enjoy all the beautiful things we have already made in 2017 ! If you want to admire everything ‘live’, book a trip to Terschelling on the Willem Barentsz. In a number of posts we show you all the nice adventures in the tile pictures: Pay attention to the details!

We are curious what you all think about it and for the creators of the winning designs: can you find your own work?

We would like to hear it!
