Restoration of De Haar castle

This restoration involved 30 different types of decorative tiles. The restoration has been carried out in the original techniques. The tiles are in the basements, kitchens and stairwells of the castle and the bathrooms and paneling of the outbuilding (Châtelet).

De Haar Castle in Haarzuilens was rebuilt (completed in 1912) by the famous architect Pierre Cuypers. At the time, the Harlinger tile factory of Van Hulst was called in to produce the tile walls. Symbolically, it is very nice that the restoration was also done by a Harlingen tile factory.
