Tile factory excursion for winner drawing competition shipping company Doeksen.

Last week there was an excursion for students from Terschelling. Deidre Kromhout van der Meer (10) from OBS ‘t Hunnighouwersgat in Midsland, won the super prize with her drawing of the Brandaris: she went on an excursion with her entire class to the Harlinger Pottery Factory. They were given a tour and so they could see with their own eyes how their drawings are placed on the tile pictures. We are now working on a series of eight tile pictures. There will be four on each ship: two images of Vlieland and two of Terschelling. The contours of the island of Terschelling have already been sketched and partly filled in with the winning images drawn by Terschelling primary school students.

After the students had a good look at everything, taxi buses took the students back to the boat. Director Ellen Melchers of OBS ‘t Hunnighouwersgat responded enthusiastically: “We had a great time! It was well organized and we received so many impressions. Our compliments and thanks!”
